Lantern Festival

OH EM GEE! YA’LL, I don’t even know where to start. I experienced something I thought I’d never experience. You seriously need to add this to your bucket list.

Can you tell how excited I am!? YES – I am super excited to share this experience with you all, even though what I experienced was seriously indescribable.

Let’s get this started…. so the Lantern Festival. I’ve seen this on Facebook multiple times and knew about this because of Tangled. It’s always intrigued me, but not enough to look too deep into it. But thanks to my good friend Flory for telling our group about a Valentine’s Day sale for this and asking if we wanted to go. We spent $20 per person compared to the $90 day of pricing.

The Philadelphia location was located in Mohnton, PA, which is about an hour and a half away from where I live, so my friends and I decided to stay in an Airbnb in Lancaster for a night.

By the way, our house was awesome! It was pretty big for the price (Around $11 per person, so cheap!). We were about 9 people in this house and there was a lot of room. We could’ve had 8-9 more people and still be comfortable. We also had a nice lawn, but we couldn’t enjoy it as much. We would definitely stay at this location again. (Let me know if you’d like to know where we stayed. I’ll gladly send you the link.)

We arrived in Lancaster around 12:30 in the afternoon, so we got to enjoy the house for a little bit before the Lantern Festival. There was a nice local market across the street from our house, so we walked over and got hot dogs, hoagies, pasta salad and coleslaw. We grilled the hotdogs and had a picnic in the backyard.

We then headed to the Lantern Festival after our picnic. If planning to go, make sure to head to the festival early! This allows you to find a good spot for the Lantern Festival. This is where you will stay all day and let your lantern go. We found a pretty good spot and had a bonfire of our own since our group was so big. We met up with more friends, so there was about 14 of us at our bonfire.

At the festival, there were many carnival foods that were being sold and the most important thing, beer! Of course, my sister, TJ and I had to get a beer and FUNNEL CAKE. There was also a DJ who had games going on throughout the day. Most of the day you’re in the sun waiting and spending time with your group. While you wait, you can decorate your lantern (I drew an octopus on mine.. I’m not sure why. I just wanted to draw something).

Time to get the bonfire started!

Once it gets somewhat dark, you pick up your firewood and start your bonfire. Everything just starts to look beautiful as the night gets darker. Finally it gets dark enough and the event gets the thumbs up from the fire Marshall to start flight. At first, I was super confused on how to even light up the lantern without burning the whole thing, but eventually you get the lantern to the point it starts flying…. and my goodness! The view is something to see. It was absolutely beautiful and indescribable. It was a moment in my life where I was just speechless. I didn’t get many photos because I was just in awe and could barely move from the experience.

So in the end, would I recommend this? Absolutely YES! This is something I believe everyone should experience in their life. It is truly beautiful and like I said, indescribable.

Everyone needs to experience this in their life!

OH AND BTW GUYS, I was kind of obsessed with this top. It was only $12.99 from TJ Maxx! Such a perfect top for such a perfect day.

Also, I just noticed that my whole outfit is from TJ Maxx. Shorts were $12.99 and shoes were $16.99. If you couldn’t tell, TJ Maxx is basically my favorite store. I always have good finds there!
